Jonathan Wayshak (favorite artist)

Wayshak does a wonderful job in capturing pain in a way that is beautifully intricate. The ink technique he uses, combines rather detailed portions of his art with raw full bodied pieces of ink. This technique does a great job creating contrast which puts a lot of emphasis on the detailed parts of his pieces.  Pain seems to be a recurring subject in his work and I could see how it could be very easy to look at the artworks above and describe them as 'grim' or 'dark'.  I however disagree, as i look at his pieces i think to myself perseverance.  With that, i believe that Wayshak creates pieces that provoke thought and that are very visually interesting.  When you look at these at Jonathan Wayshak's pieces what is the general theme that you take away from them?

My New Years Resolution

My work ethic in Art class for the last couple years has not been very good.  In class i was very distracted and quite frankly most of the time i was not doing alot of work.  Outside of class was not better, i  catagorized my artwork as homework that i didnt like and eventually i slipped into a stage where I dreaded doing art work. This should have never happened because i really do like art.  Over winter break i was able to dedicate several days working on my pieces.  In that short amount of time i was able to get into my art more than i have been since my eighth grade.   I want to continue to be productive and work on art pieces that are not only assignments.

Concentration III, " entangled", 'Police State'

This is my third concentration piece in progress.  Mr. Z told us that this  piece has to some how relate to the theme "entangled".  That being said, because this piece is in its beginning stages, i will do my best to explain what i hope to portray when i'm done with it.  As you can see i have drawn a robot figure as the focal point of the piece, from him, his 'organs' are spilling out.  His internal organs are based roughly off  circuit board's that you'd find in many modern electronic devices.  The circuit board parts are to branch out from the robot's front cavity and entangle an army of smaller robots which will be drawn behind him.    I hope to depict electricity flowing through the parts and into the smaller robot's body's.  The big robot will be in control of the army of robots.  This is too symbolically portray parents who aren't parents but are dictators.  Thanks for reading, i'll update as soon as i make some significant progress.
