Jonathan Wayshak (favorite artist)

Wayshak does a wonderful job in capturing pain in a way that is beautifully intricate. The ink technique he uses, combines rather detailed portions of his art with raw full bodied pieces of ink. This technique does a great job creating contrast which puts a lot of emphasis on the detailed parts of his pieces.  Pain seems to be a recurring subject in his work and I could see how it could be very easy to look at the artworks above and describe them as 'grim' or 'dark'.  I however disagree, as i look at his pieces i think to myself perseverance.  With that, i believe that Wayshak creates pieces that provoke thought and that are very visually interesting.  When you look at these at Jonathan Wayshak's pieces what is the general theme that you take away from them?

  1. I'm glad to see you chose an artist that your artwork is inspired by and Wayshak is just awesome with ink techniques...I hope you continue to use him as inspiration.

  2. I wish I knew anything about technique but the pieces remind me of Ralph Steadman. (See Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.)
